impact how your body feels and responds to pain. One should take the higher strength of this
medication (more than 40 mg per tablet) only if they have been regularly taking moderate to
large amounts of opioids. These strengths may cause fatal overdose if a person takes it who
has not been taking opioid pain medication regularly. Never take the extended-release form of
this medicine to relieve mild pain or pain that will go away in few days. It is not for occasional
    as-needed use.
Before taking Oxycontin 10 mg, carefully read the medication guide or instruction sheet. If you
have any queries regarding the medical schedule and dosage, consult your doctor or
    pharmacist.
Take this medication regularly based on the schedule as per your doctor’s directions, not as
needed for breakthrough or sudden pain. You can take Oxycontin 10 mg with or without food
after every 12 hours usually. If you are going through nausea, it may help to take Oxycontin 10
mg with food. Tell any of your medical healthcare providers about other methods to decrease
nausea. If it persists, meet your doctor.
Swallow the whole tablet rather than breaking, crushing, chewing, or dissolving it because it can
release all drugs right away, increasing the oxycodone overdose risk.
To reduce the chance of choking or facing trouble swallowing the tablet:

    1. Consume only one pill at a time if your dose is more than that.
    2. Do not lick, pre-soak, or wet the capsule before placing it in your mouth.
    3. Ensure to drink enough water with each pill to swallow it entirely.
Avoid having grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medication unless your
medical healthcare providers say that you can safely do it. The use of grapefruit can result in
causing an increase in the chances of side effects with this medicine.
Do not suddenly stop taking Oxycontin 10 mg, or you may face unpleasant withdrawal
symptoms. To prevent withdrawal of this medicine, your doctor may lower your dosage
gradually. Tell your doctor or any other medical healthcare provider if you have withdrawal
symptoms such as nausea, restlessness, mental changes or mood swings (including trouble
sleeping, anxiety, suicidal thoughts), runny nose, watery eyes, sweating, diarrhea, sudden
changes in behavior, or muscle aches.
Nausea, constipation, vomiting, weakness, dry mouth, lightheadedness, sweating, drowsiness,
or dizziness may occur. Some side effects may decrease after a short while of taking this

medication. If any of these side effects are bothersome, or persist, or worsen, tell your doctor or
    pharmacist instantly.
To prevent constipation, drink enough water, eat dietary fiber, and exercise. To reduce the risk
of lightheadedness (drowsiness) and dizziness, stand up slowly while rising from a sitting or
    lying position.
